MPAN numbers explained

Your MPAN numbers will inform you of your meter’s profile class (an estimation of how much energy is consumed), distributor identification (the code for which company is responsible for the energy system), line loss factor (the expected cost of cables and networking for the area) and much more. You can understand what each part of your 21-digit MPAN means by looking at the table to the right.

Your MPAN will be presented on your energy bills. If you do not have a recent bill, or you cannot find the number, your local electricity supplier will be able to inform you of it. Every local supplier should have an MPAS department that can either supply the information over the telephone or send you a copy of it for safe keeping.
