What is the Gas MPRN
(or ‘M number’)?
MPR stands for Meter Point Reference Number. This number is on your gas bill and is sometimes referred to as the M number. It provides a unique identity reference number for the meter and the supply.
Where do I find it?
It can be difficult to find the MPRN if you are unsure where to look. Although the number will be presented on every gas bill you receive, it is regularly in fine print that makes it easy to miss. However, you can spot it by looking for a six to ten digit numerical code, often located towards the bottom of your gas bill. In the event that you cannot find it or you do not have a gas bill available to hand, you can also obtain your MPRN by getting in touch with the National Grid. They can be contacted on 0870 608 1524.
